Short Biography

May Cai is currently a doctoral student with the Northwestern University Interdepartmental Neuroscience (NUIN) PhD program. She is also an American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellow and holds a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College. In her free time, she enjoys balcony gardening and reading science-related non-fiction literature.


Research Interests

May's research goal is to investigate changes in sensorimotor control post-stroke and to use her research findings to improve current rehabilitation strategies for the stroke population. She uses a quantitative approach with mechatronic devices and psychophysics methods to investigate the role of torque perception in sensorimotor control in adults and individuals with stroke.
